AMOC Area 16 Newsletter October 2014

Dear Fellow Area 16 Members.

New Members: First and foremost, a big welcome to Matthew Hill, Keith & Larraine Diggins, John & Catherine Cullen who have joined area 16 recently, we look forward to  meeting you very soon.

5 October: Sunday. Horsham Food, Wine and Produce Festival.

Thank you to all the members who attended the Horsham Aston Martin Rally with food and drink market. Well the weather was fantastic and HDC (Horsham District Council) made us very welcome. Great organisation by Jan, thank you for all your hard work and worry, it made a fantastic event with a bit of help from the spreadsheet duo, Mick and Gary.

We had 23 Astons on parade with another one, which was parked on the road although we got a picture of the car we didn’t get to meet the driver. To see pictures take a look on Area 16 website, we had a fantastic display from a1954 DB2/4 Coupe (Peter and Jean Brown) to a 2008 V8 Vantage N400 Coupe (Lee and Alison Draper – Area 7?) with many wonderful models in-between a good mix of old and new.  The lunch was well attended at the Carmela Italian restaurant with very good food, a little disappointed that time was all too short. We had a quick exit to get back to the cars to depart – a Le Mans start was suggested but too much pizza/pasta had been consumed!

It was a lovely atmosphere with a great appreciation for the Astons, we will be invited to attend next year and I would encourage you to join in and lets make it a bigger event than the Italian event held at Easter in Horsham.

Date for your diary 29th March 2015  – The winter Olympics may seem a while ago but the memory of the Curling fun lives on with the AMOC Area 16 Curling event 29th March 2015 – we have a limited number of places which will be reserved to the first 24 who provide payment before 1st February 2015. £20.00 per head for 2 hours on the ice. To take part you will need to wear layers of clothing and gloves – we do play on the ice, shoes are provided.  Please arrive by 11:30 and be able to enjoy a coffee and sneaky preview of what you will be doing. We will be given a video introduction and then be on the ice with instructors between 12 and 2. Afterwards to a pub, TBA to discuss the efforts of teams and individual performances over a meal or a drink.
