25 October     A Tribute To Lionel Martin At The Royal Pavilion Brighton. (AMOC Event) :-
A number of Area 16 members joined in The AMOC organised event of the Lionel Martin Tribute that was held on October 25th 2014. An excellent time was had by all, meeting up with a number of Aston owners at the official rendezvous point on route, The Victory Inn in Stapleford, Nr Hayward’s Heath, This was on the Veteran car official route. A great turn out of Astons at the Victory Inn was an impressive sight for all the locals to see, we even had AMOC members from Belgium and Ireland.

Channel 4   – For the Love of Cars presenter, Ant Anstead was filming and talking to Aston owners about their pride and joy. We understand this is due to be screened in February. The ladies appreciated the additional buzz to the event. After meeting lots of new friends, bacon rolls and coffee, the cars moved on to meet on Madeira Drive in Brighton. We were assembled about 2pm by the AMOC team with their hi-viz jackets and released into the traffic jam of Brighton. With around 43 Astons adding to the queues. We were finally guided to the hill that Lionel Martin is said to have taken the first picture of an Aston. An orderly queue was formed, (typical British) to descend the Cindertrack hill (now Tarmac & one way) also now known as The Drove. The official AM photographer took pictures of each car on the hill to mark the occasion.

Following a welcome break at various hotels in Brighton, everyone prepared themselves for a special evening with a Champagne and Canapés Reception in The Royal Pavilion kitchens. This was followed by private tours which congregated everyone in the Music room for speeches from the organisers. An excellent banquet dinner was served in the main dinning room, everyone who attended seemed to enjoyed the experience, the company and meeting new fellow members of AMOC from far and wide. Thanks go to all those at HQ who organised such a spectacle. See some pictures on our web site
if any members have any pictures of the event and would like to add them on the site, then just send them to Gary.

2nd Nov: Veteran Car Run. Lunch time gathering at the Jack & Jill pub on the A273 at Clayton to watch the veteran cars pass by or call in for a pit stop on their way to Brighton. A handful of hardy members turned up to watch and support the veteran cars and their occupants on a wet and dreary day, supported by some coffee and lunch, a great display of times gone-by trundled by throughout the day with a showing of 4 Astons in the car park, 1 being a 1934 Lagonda in all its pride. Some pictures will be on our web site in due course.
