The first AREA 16 Curling event was held on the 29th March 2015 at Fentons Curling Centre Nr Tunbridge Wells, 24 keen players all turned up and had a very competitive and enjoyable afternoon of curling, occupying the whole complex across 3 sheets (lanes) with 8 players on each sheet, 4 in each team, the banter grew louder with the challenge, along with periods of silence during intense concentration. There were 6 teams, Team, Virage, Lagonda, Vanquish, DB, Vulcan and Vantage. after a challenging 2 hours on the ice, with only 3 players falling over, but some very intense competition, Team Vulcan on sheet 1 (all guests from Area 7) I have to say, were the overall winners with the highest score of the afternoon.
The majority of the players then retired to a local pub, The Brecknock Arms, for a well earned drink and an excellent meal, our thanks go to the staff of the Brecknock Arms for accommodating 16 of us and for giving us such a good welcome.
