What’s been going on…..

A bit of a quite month this month, time for reflection on the busy previous months of this year and thoughts of planning next year!

October 13th: 7.30pm.

Regular Meeting The Red Lion, Ashington, London Rd Ashington, Pulborough, RH20 3DD, West of A24

Our regular October meeting at The Red Lion, Ashington, was a lively evening with 24 members attending with 10 Aston’s parked in the car park, Good banter was had by all along with discussing next years events, it is going to be another busy year, we have had several suggestions from members, we will do our best to full-fill suggestions, enjoy the cars and friendship of Area 16 Sussex.

October 27th: Spectre opening night at Horsham:- A couple of our members attended the opening night showing of the latest Bond film, Spectre at the Capitol cinema in Horsham, The club had made enquiries to some cinemas about providing some Aston Martins as part of the spectacle of the new film, however, these offers were not taken up due to agreements between Sony, the film producers and Aston Martin dealers, so we were told. A couple of members purchased tickets for the black tie event at Horsham and enjoyed the event, arriving with showbiz search lights scanning the skyline, seen from some miles away, a red carpet entrance, champagne and canapés on arrival, cocktails in the bar accompanied with entertainment with a singer and magician.  Once in the auditorium, a raffle for a 1/4 carat diamond which was won and immediately donated to be auctioned, bidding was made with a final bid of £950 made for the £1100 diamond for a good cause. We then settled down to the 2 hour film, with our goody bags in hand, and an excellent film it is, credit to the film makers, actors and of course Aston Martin.

November 1st: Veteran Car Rally London To Brighton:- 11 Area 16 members turned up on a misty morning at the Jack & Jill Public house at Clayton, on route to Brighton to cheer on and support the brave and hardy souls driving down to Brighton in the forerunners of the modern car, With Jan, Mick, Gary and Liz accompanied with their variety of horns and a claxon, there was plenty of noisy support for the runners, 7 had booked in for lunch, excellent food and atmosphere throughout the day. Thank you to all those of Area 16 who joined us in supporting this.
